                THE 100^TH DAY OF SCHOOL PROJECT

Crayon Melt Down

On February 11^th we will be celebrating the 100^th day of school.  Your child will be asked to make a 100th day project at home and bring it in to school to be displayed. What is a 100th day project?  It is a collection of 100 objects that has been counted several times, then grouped and arranged in a creative way. Parental support will be needed to help your child bring the project to life. Below is an explanation of each step and a date when it should be complete.

Step 1: Think about what you could collect 100 of, make a list of ideas and pick the one that you can easily gather and carry into school.  Thinking should be complete by Jan. 25^th

(ex. cereal, popcorn, pennies, cotton balls, toothpicks, stamps, beans)

Step 2: Count out 100 pieces and put them into groups of 10.  Make sure you know how many groups it makes.  Do it several times to make sure you have 100. Done by Jan 27th

Step 3: Become an artist and turn your collection into art. Done by Feb. 5th

Step 4: Name your artwork by Feb. 6th

Step 5: Bring it to school so that it can be put into the museum. Due by Feb. 7th

Step 6: Visit the museum to observe the 100’s day extravaganza 
on Feb. 11th
